	But you must be careful. Many starter studs become corroded because they are in the splash path of water from the front tire. You need to make sure the nut is not frozen onto the stud or you run the risk of damaging the stud and the internals. This could require a new starter or a starter overhaul. If it looks like it is frozen on, use proper techniques to loosend the nut from the stud (Liquid Wrench etc.). Use the green synthetic steel wool to clean and brighten the mating surface on the stud. Use the alcohol wipe to clean it to bare metal.
