Michael, ------- Success. The kit is installed and works just fine - press start button, engine goes "thump, thump" followed immediately by the Termignoni bass notes as she fires up. The key to installing the kit on a 999 is following ONLY LT's directions PRECISELY. There aren't two ways for the wires to be routed, only one, to enable all the components to snuggle up to each other and bolt back into place. Think sardines in a can... very tight in there, same as the electrics behind the battery box. Because the wires and cables are so tight, I found it necessary to put the positive cable in first, including the heat shield, then try bolting up the battery box to see if it all fit okay. If not, I made slight adjustments to the cable position to eliminate any interference points. When I was certain there weren't any, I then routed the ground cable between the water pump hoses and parallel to the battery box. It fit. Then tried bolting up the battery box again, made minor adjustments to the ground cable position until the exact right position was found so the box could be pressed into place. Getting the battery box back into place still requires a pretty major effort to get the bolts to line up, but it's not extraordinary. Again, think sardines in a can. The Motolectric cables are exactly the right length when LT's directions are followed. If one is in a rush doing the job, one will make mistakes and fail. Careful, precise, step by step progress gets this job completed successfully. A hint for easily installing the battery into the battery box: the rubber insulation in the battery box grabs the sides of the battery and the battery resists being pushed into place. Solution - put a little Armor All (or any product like it) on the rubber in the battery box and the battery slides right in. Just like the lubricant electricians use for pulling wires through EMT. ------
